Olivier Clochard and Philippe Rekacewicz: EU Expulsion Machine
  

Last week German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that multiculturalism has “utterly failed”; while in France  mass expulsion of Roma immigrants scalates and increasing anti-islamic discourses permeates north–European countries such as Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands .

In this MAP – “The EU’s expulsion machine” –published in June 2010 in Le Monde Diplomatique, cartographers Olivier Clochard and Philippe Rekacewicz chart out the spatial mechanisms of a system which, given the conservative outcries the financial crisis is sparking throughout the “union”, tends to grow even stronger.
